Gillian (Jill)
Davey Nurhonen
B.SC.OT.
National Board Certified/Registered Occupational Therapist
Georgia Licensed
Gill
is an occupational therapist with over 15 years of clinical
experience. She has extensive, specialized training in pediatrics, parent
counseling and sensory integration.
“Miss Jill” as she is called by her little clients is originally from
South Africa. She immigrated with her family to Colorado in the late 80’s
and received her Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Therapy from
Colorado State University in 1992. Gill spent 2 years in Albuquerque
NM, at a sensory integration clinic, where her love for pediatrics and
sensory integration took root. She returned to South Africa for 6 years,
where she did contract work before opening her first private practice in
1995. There Gill helped form & run “Allied Health Services” a
multidisciplinary team, in Midrand, outside Johannesburg.
The team comprised of

clinical and educational psychologists, who combined their skills to offer
comprehensive treatment under one roof. Gill concurrently ran groups and individual treatment
programs at two private schools in the Johannesburg area.
Gill
& her family returned to the United States, settling in Atlanta, in late
1999. After the birth of her son, in 2000, Gill founded & is now
clinical director of GN Integrated Pediatric Therapy, LLC, (Kids in Sync).
The clinic is located in Cumming, Georgia, offering in-home and clinic based
services.
Gill continues to work individually with children (newborn to 12
years old) and their parents, offering comprehensive evaluations & treatment
programs. Her practice strives to maintain the quiet, family-centered
atmosphere, missing in most busy clinics today. Sensory processing &
integration continues to be the backbone of her practice framework and she
believes it plays an undeniable role in treatment & development, of both
pediatric and adult clients.
Gill enjoys doing web based consultations and helping families with
home programs for their sensory kids. The need for this type of consulting
has increased over the passed few years as specialized therapy is not
locally available or parents struggle to get insurance coverage for therapy.
Besides the clinical side of her work, Gill loves the public speaking
arena. Over the passed few years she’s developed her skills as a lecturer.
Gill enjoys sharing her expertise & knowledge with other
professionals, teachers and parents. Her presentations include information
about sensory processing, identifying sensory-based issues in children and
home /classroom accommodations.
Gill volunteers and is a board member for various community based
organizations involving in sensory integration, autism and an AIDS relief &
childhood education program in her home of South Africa.
